Our Bonny Lands

I thought I would share this bonny view with you. It is from one of our favourite mountain bike rides. It is ‘our thing’ to get out early in the morning, although these winter mornings are challenging. We take hot milky coffee and breakfast bars, which we are ready for by the time we get to this viewpoint. We are slowing down and not doing the hard-core mountain bike trials any more, but that is okay, old age does not come itself, as my granny would say.

This trial we call ‘lonesome pine’. A wee country lane takes us from our village and leads us up into the hills, on the way we pass sheep and cows which we always say a ‘good morning’ to as we fly past. All sheep of course, we call Barr-berras. And on this particular route we greet some horses, grouse in plenty, which we call Cecil, just our funny wee ways. Apart from our heavy breathing going uphill, it is wonderfully quiet. The birds sing out to us, the trees sway in the breeze, and usually, we can come across a fox or two, sometimes deer, although we can hear them more than we can see them. The foxes up in the hills are big, bushy-tailed russet coloured, beautiful creatures (I know the farmer will not agree). Often, they just stare at us, probably wondering what we are doing on such stupid contraptions, before slinking off through the trees. We are not short of Buzzards around here and Red Kites, it is such a wonderful way to start the day. The bonus of working from home for me, and spending precious time with my wonderful husband, who lucky thing is now retired. Or should I say, who now works from ‘my to do list’. I know you get that!!

Just sharing a moment in time with you. Txx
